Sony’s attention has shifted towards PCs in a gradual yet constant manner. While the previous focus was on the God of War Ragnarok PC port, the company has unveiled more thrilling news. Sony is introducing the PSVR 2 PC Adapter, thereby enabling PC users to access PSVR 2.
Sony has recently revealed in a blog post that the PSVR 2 PC adapter will be available for purchase on August 7, 2024, at select retailers for a price of $59.99 (€59.99 /£49.99). With this adapter, gamers will have the ability to connect their PSVR 2 to their PC and enjoy an array of Steam VR games, such as Half-Life: Alyx, Boneworks VR, and many more.
While the PSVR 2 offers an immersive virtual reality experience, it lacks some of the features that PS5 owners have grown accustomed to. Regrettably, using the headset on a PC will mean sacrificing the benefits of HDR, headset feedback, eye tracking, adaptive triggers on the VR controllers, and haptic feedback.
Utilizing the headset in 4K resolution provides the opportunity to fully immerse oneself with the benefits of a 110-degree field of view, finger touch detection, and see-through view. Additionally, select games will have access to enhanced rendering, 3D audio support, and eye tracking technology.
The usability of PSVR 2 on PC is reduced by half, which could indicate that Sony prefers gamers to test the headset on their console. Otherwise, omitting these features seems illogical, unless they have no intention of adding support for them on PC in the future.
PSVR 2 PC System Requirements
In addition to the exhilarating update and identified absences, Sony has provided an extensive list of system prerequisites to operate their VR headset on a computer. Explore these requirements and assess if your device meets the specifications.
